The embroidered images presented are a tangible testament to the unbreakable connection between place of origin and identity. Through "Memories of My Homeland," these women extend an invitation to explore not only the visual beauty of their homelands but also the emotional treasures residing in each stitch.
In this exhibition, we proudly announce the participation of local artisan Fabiola Marroquin and renowned Mexican artist Maricela Figueroa Zamilpa. Their creations enrich this event by bridging the past and present with needles and threads. Each stitch is a melody intertwining eras, each color a brushstroke uniting memory and reality.
Jessica Zapata skillfully led the coordination of this project, with the support of Yeseul Lee, an Educator for Community Engagement and Well-being at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. This initiative has been organized by Eugene Arte Latino and Comunidad y Herencia Cultural, in collaboration with the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art and the Emerald Art Center.
